Notes by Bill Melvin
Another upset made Miles the second highest rated perfect score. I liked his chances in this round as I felt the fatigue factor would be in his favor. In Dallas he played his worst game of the tournament in the last round on Saturday. He was understandably tired by this point after a long day of playing chess. This round was played at the end of Saturday and I was hopeful that Miles' opponent would be tired and Miles would still be fresh. He makes many mistakes and his opponent is soon up a bishop and two pawns with queens exchanged. So, he lost, right? Well, not exactly. Miles used his remaining two rooks and bishop to great effect. He won back the bishop and his pieces soon developed a mating attack.
