Play the Master
On November 3, 2003 seven-time Alabama State Champion Bill Melvin challenged the world to two
games of chess. The Master made his first move with the white pieces then each side alternately
had one week to make a move for each of the two games. Congratulations go to the World Team
for winning this match 1.5-0.5.
The rules were:
- No computers may be used to calculate a move.
- Books and databases may be used.
- Two games are played simultaneously, one as white and one as black.
- Anyone can suggest a move for the World's side.
- The move with the most votes is played.
- No prizes except bragging rights.
